Brother Ken Kroeger of BLET Division 28 (Tucson, Ariz.) began his railroad career at the age of 23 when he hired on as an Engineer Trainee in 1973 for Southern Pacific in Tucson.

He was promoted to locomotive engineer in 1974 and joined the BLET in November 1976. In 1990, he was elected as Vice Local Chairman of Division 28, and in January 1995 he was elected to the position of Local Chairman. During his tenure as Local Chairman, he became a founding member of the BLET National Mobilization Program.

Ken was hired as a Special Rep for the western region in April 1999. In August 2000, Ken attended an NTSB Training Class in Washington, D.C. and became a Primary Responder with the BLET Safety Task Force.

In addition to his Special Rep position, he was appointed as Coordinator of Education and Training in September 2001, and currently is in charge of organizing and conducting training seminars for local chairmen and secretary-treasurers at the George Meany Center in Silver Springs, Maryland, as well as at Regional Meetings and other locations.
